Citizen Space Teams Up With NewME Accelerator

In the coming weeks, Team Citizen Space is anxiously looking forward to the kickoff of the NewME Accelerator. NewME is “an accelerator for minority led start-ups that will house a handful of visiting start-ups during the summer of 2011 in Silicon Valley.”NewME Accelerator

We are proud to be a part of this initiative to help minority-led startups kick it into high gear this summer. These businesses have shown a good deal of creativity and ingenuity having made it this far, and there’s sure to be more where that came from. With the help of a distinguished list of mentors and guest speakers, the NewME program is sure to produce a brilliant and memorable Demo Day.

Citizen Space is thrilled to give these scrappy startups “a nicer place to work” than they might otherwise have at their disposal. Their exuberance, drive, and vision will definitely be welcome by all of the citizens here. “The more, the merrier” we always say.

A new face in this fantastic space

I met Toby at Startup Weekend San Jose, and he was one of the friendliest, most dynamic people that I met there (in a room full of friendly, dynamic people, mind you!) As that experience wrapped up, I knew that “crew” associated with Citizen Space and Semantic Seed was the real deal.

Now, under Toby’s tremendous tutelage, I’m learning the ropes and doing my best to add to the momentum as an intern here at Citizen Space SoMA. And I couldn’t be more excited.

It’s really a thrill to be right in the middle of so much entrepreneurial energy. I’ve only been here for 2 days and I’ve met so many dynamic and creative people that are making things happen.

One of my favorite things to do is to greet people who come into Citizen Space looking a little bit lost and confused. I get to welcome them and show them all of the cool features that we offer. I also get to find out where they are from and what they’re working on – TONS of fun!

It’s very instructive to watch our members carefully and deliberately develop their software, talk to their customers and hash out their conflicts. It’s such a great opportunity and I am so grateful that I get to make the most of it. I’m really looking forward to getting to know the members and friends of the coolest, friendliest coworking spots around!

If you’re in the neighborhood from Wednesday to Friday, feel free to stop in and say hi. Seriously, I mean it. : )
