"It’s been basically watch and see and they’ve got done a lot of tests, Cardinals broker Mike Matheny said. "He just recently played catch and I was very surprised at how well he was able to throw the ball, And didn’t think he surely could at all, And he actually threw rather effectively. He’s destined to be day to day right now.

He’s gotten slow days to help emerge from his slide with little success. He was not the same since missing the last month of regular season with a left mid foot strain but came back for the World Series, Playing some specific hitter and first base.Kelly and Craig both were hurt strolling to first, Craig when he landed awkwardly rounding the base

Patriots will miss injured Dez Bryant the moment they visit Dallas: Will miss four or five weeks with a broken foot. The boys cut loose DeMarco Murray this offseason to pay Bryant, Believing he was more instrumental to the achievements of this offense than the NFL leading rusher. Cloud Databases with CTO of Akiban

Posted on 28. Mar, 2012 by in Developers, Events, SOMA

Boston based startup will describe their work on an open source, relational database named the Akiban Server. The goal of this technology is to unify the robust modeling and declarative nature of SQL with the object mapping capabilities of a document store, in a scalable architecture.  The core technology implements a new logical construct called table-groups that use relationships and usage information to mirror application objects. Table-groups inform the physical construct that interleaves related table data, effectively pre-computing most joins. Thissignificantly improves query performance for operational workloads and allows developers to access relational data as objects.

Speaker Bio:
Ori Herrnstadt is the founder and CTO of Akiban. He has been involved in developing large scale operational database systems since his days in the Israeli Military. After experiencing similar problems of large-scale operational systems in healthcare, ERP, CRM and modern web applications, he began developing the Orthogonal Architecture. In 2009, he founded Akiban Technologies to accelerate the development of this technology.

We’ll also be providing pizza and drinks for attendees, as well as Akiban swag (USB drives, coffee mugs, t-shirts..etc). Our meetup groups are always a lot of fun with lively conversation throughout, we hope to see you there!

Become Master Teacher on Skillshare!

Posted on 05. Mar, 2012 by in blog, Classes, Coworking, Events, Internships, Japan, Jobs, SOMA, Startups

Skillshare, a marketplace of classes to learn anything from teachers in your community, is now looking for Teacher & Account Executive in San Francisco.

Since I was interested in becoming teacher myself, I decided to have an interview with Stevie who is the community manager of Skillshare. I’d like to share some of the tips she gave me to become master teacher in Skillshare.

Gaining a trust from students

In order to attract students in Skillshare, teacher has to have credibility. How can I earn that trust? Stevie told me that teaching is the only way to construct the good relationship between your students. Get endorsement from people who liked the class and be open to critical feedbacks to improve yourself to become Master Teacher.

However it is sometimes hard to take the first step. For those shy teachers Skillshare organizes class on designing the classes which staff of Skillshare will kindly walk you through picking a class topic, designing your first class, and all the other steps you need.

Building course for your class and create community

Another important concept of Skillshare is “course”. Many other P2P teaching platform just offers intermittent contents but Skillshare encourage teachers to create course with different level of difficulty so that students can improve their skill with continuous support from same teacher.

Becoming Master Teacher

You can also earn the trust by becoming Master Teacher.

Here are some of the criterias you have to overcome.

- Should apply or be nominated by the Skillshare team
– Have taught several amazing classes with EVEN MORE lined up
– Have lots of loving feedback from students
– Have a detailed & personalized profile that links to Twitter, Facebook, and beyond
– Are capable of receiving 15+ endorsements per quarter

Stevie emphasize the importance of endorsement because after all, it’s the student who decides the best teacher in the campus!

Skillshare’s mission is to transform education by empowering teaching and democratizing learning. Every human being is natural teacher!  Transform every place to school! (They even once had class in subway, teaching “how to talk to stranger). I’m sure the future of Skillshare will replace the traditional education system with high tuition.

You want to help accomplish this mission? Skillshare is looking for Account Executive who could help recruit great teachers. For more information, click here for more information about this role.

Last night over 70 people gathered to hear a panel moderated by Charles Hudson, a Venture Partner with SoftTech VC, talk about their experience bootstrapping, learning the importance of accountability, deciding what were the important metrics of success, and how to survive when things don’t go as well as hoped.

Christine Herron, Director with Intel Capital, Trevor Cornwell, the founder and CEO of appbackr inc., Danae Ringelmann, co-founder of IndieGoGo, and George Revutsky, the founder and CEO of MyNextCustomer all spoke eloquently about their experience.

We learned that mom can be the best angel investor when you need to get through that little hump, but be sure your arrangement has clear terms. We learned about risk, and the importance of maintaining strong relationships both personally and professionally.
